Riverkeeper A Big Success
Posted on November 22, 2011 by Your Friends at Patio
The weather was perfect, the oysters abundant and a record breaking crowd was in attendance. We were so pleased to be a part of this fantastic fund raiser for our city's most prized asset, The St. John's River. If you weren't able to attend this year, make sure to attend next year.
On a side note: Pastiche will not be serving the Thursday Supper Club this week, we will be closed for Thanksgiving.
Saving the flavor

Summer's end produced a bounty of produce so following the addage of I eat local because I "can," we got busy in the kitchen "putting up" the harvest.

Of course we have the southern fav, bread and butter pickles, but we also got went out on the ledge and created some sweet and spicy pickled butternut and asian pickled carrots. Pickled veggies have such an array of uses they are great to keep on hand.
Chef Eric likes the crunch on his hot ham and blue cheese sandwich with pickled veggies, I like to toss them in a salad and the staff, well they just like 'em straight out of the jar.
Labor Day Market Treats

Labor Day Weekend is a bitter sweet time for most of us. It reminds us that relief from the heat is around the corner, but the lazy days of summer are now a thing of the past.
Time to get down to business! With schools back in session and all of the kid's activities gearing up, parents need an extra 8 hours a day just to keep up! For me, it's time to get down to the business of planting the fall/winter garden.
I was out last night till the sun went down planting baby tomato plants that I have been nurturing from seeds for about 2 months. Yes, I am thinking about you, because I want you to be able to enjoy those delicious jewels at the Patio! Be patient, because we are still a good month away from a tomato harvest. No worries though, our Market is still in full swing, with freshly prepared dinners.
It's easy to swing in between carpool and kid's practice and pick up something for dinner. Why not? YOU deserve a break from the kitchen once in a while!
